Christmas Wines

Need a few wine suggestions for Christmas presents, or thank you gifts, or to serve guests? I’ve got seven suggestions and all of them are fairly easy to find at local retailers or order from the winery.

Let’s start with the white wines. D’Aun and my all time favorite white wine is from DeSante Wines called L’Atelier. A blend of Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Sauvignon Vert, this is a refreshing white wine that everyone will enjoy. And it is a bargain at $28.

Two Angels

Every now and then I find a good wine for sale online, and Invino recently shipped me one worth mentioning. Rarely do I buy a wine before tasting it first so my order was a risk. It paid off.

2010 Two Angels Cabernet Sauvignon is an affordable Cab with a balanced palate. You can taste the fruit, but it’s not so powerful it wipes out all the other subtleties. Uncorked Thoughts

One of my favorite things to do is enjoy a great bottle of wine with friends and family. It wasn’t always this way: I was raised by parents who frowned on drinking alcohol. But then again, I had a Grandfather who distilled moonshine during Prohibition. Thankfully, other influences have kept me from both extremes!

It was a visit to Bordeaux in the 1980’s when D’Aun and I discovered the joys of great wine. When I got home from that trip I built a simple wine rack in the basement and began collecting Chateau Mouton Rothschild wines. That didn’t last long …
