Nope, no age discrimination here!

Hey, I’m back from vacation! And did you hear the crazy news? PathLight International, an organization I co-founded and greatly admire, has hired a sixty-something snarky white guy to become their Chief Executive Officer.

Worse, he has no academic training in missions, never lived in a foreign country, only speaks English, has never been a teacher, earned no degree in theology, has no cross cultural training, and lives in what some call the spiritual wasteland of California.

I would add he’s bald and a little chubby, but that’s getting personal.

He has one advantage: he works for free. That’s

Abundant Joy

As readers of this blog know, the work PathLight does in Belize is among my favorite ministries. Recently the CEO of PathLight, Roger Dermody, wrote the letter below announcing the launch of a new campaign built around Abundant Joy. I’m sharing it here in whole because it is so good!

Dear Friends,

I am writing this letter after spending a week in Belize surrounded by people who have what the Apostle Paul describes as “abundant joy” in his letter to the Corinthians. In the midst of poverty, with no obvious way out, the people Paul wrote to embraced joy –

It’s hard to believe that this will be PathLight’s tenth year. It was 2006 when Mark and Adrienne Parcher partnered with D’Aun and me to begin this wonderful journey. Joined by my assistant, Anne Stoneberger, we started a nonprofit and got to work. We had no idea we were launching a ministry that could impact an entire nation!

It started with the humble desire to serve. We were not sure in what capacity to serve, but we clearly felt God’s calling on our hearts. In time we saw the opportunity to impact the education system in Belize through personalized programs …
