Advent Devotions

I’m been hinting about this . . . and now it’s time to share. Over the past year I’ve written a series of devotions for Advent. They are short (a one-minute read) and will be emailed each morning to your inbox. It all starts on November 27.

These are not your typical devotions. They have a junkyard flavor in the sense they are very, very human. It’s a road trip to Bethlehem, sorta.

These are also not your typical Advent insights. It follows the untold story of Mary & Joseph as they process everything happening around them. As I say …

Another Podcast?

Do we really need another podcast? Yes, yes we do. I’ll explain.

Junkyard Wisdom was released in 2016 just as the world was turned upside down by the surprising election results. What I’ve found in the five years since is that writing — books, blogs, articles, etc. — can quickly become out of touch with the changing world.

Some things stand the test of time, and I like to think most of my writing is still highly relevant. But that doesn’t mean its value is as evident as it might have seemed when it was written. Language changes, as do …

Coming Soon!

Great news! I’ve signed a contract to write Junkyard Wisdom Rebuilt for release in 2022! I’ve been working on this book for some time now, and it’s exciting to see it come together.

Books capture a moment in time, and my first book Junkyard Wisdom came out just as dramatic change was beginning in the world. Over the last few years we have witnessed many world changing events, including a tumultuous Presidency (no matter your take on Trump, you have to admit it was different!), hurricanes in Belize, a coup in Myanmar, another coup in Thailand, and of course Covid-19. …

Looking for a good book to read?

To everyone sheltering in place, thank you. It’s clearly working and it has saved lives. As one wag said, our parents/grandparents were called to war to defeat facism and save the world, whereas we are called to stay home and sit on a couch; we can do this! 😂

So to do your duty you’ve watched all the Netflix shows, gone through the backlog of chores, organized the kitchen and garage, spent way too much time shopping online, and perfected the Zoom call. You’ve probably also read a fair number of books. Actually, you might need more books to read!…

Want to be a Guest Blogger?

Junkyard wisdom comes from a lot of places besides junkyards. You don’t have to go home with grease under your fingernails to attain wisdom (though it helps). Anyone from anywhere can have great insight.

Since my friends are amongst the wisest people in the world (I almost said the wisest people I know, but that’s obvious) then it’s time to share their wisdom.

Are you up for it? If you have an idea, opinion, insight, or fun story, let’s talk about you being a guest blogger. Maybe you have a rant you want to get off your chest. Or an …

Want to help me write a book?

A ridiculous thought struck me a few months ago — maybe there is a third book swirling around in my well fertilized brain (insert your own joke here). I never thought I’d write one book, much less two, and now maybe a third? It’s …. well, preposterous. But yes, there are things on my mind that might need to be written.

What’s on my mind isn’t the key to a good book, though. The key is to find out what’s on my heart. That’s the tricky part. Writing interesting things is fairly easy, but writing things I’m deeply passionate about …

Two Months Till Launch!

Two months till launch of my second book, Salvaged!

With just two months to go the focus now is to get as many preorders as possible because they drive those indecipherable algorithms on the bestseller lists. The more preorders we get, the higher the book moves up the sales charts. The more it moves up the charts, the more it shows up in searches and recommendations. Which means more people hear about it and buy it.

People respond to honest endorsements, so I’m hoping you can help. One authentic post from you will do more than all my posts combined. …
