Plutocrats, by Chrystia Freeland

If the widening wealth gap is a topic that interests you, Plutocrats: The Rise of the New Global Super-Rich and the Fall of Everyone Else by Chrystia Freeland is a must read book.

This book is disquieting in many ways because it charts the unique culture being formed among the super rich, and that culture has less and less contact with the other 99%. Actually, it’s the other 99.9%.

At times Freeland resorts to anecdotal stories, even sounding a bit snarky about the values and lifestyles of the ultra rich. But overall this is a well researched book that offers unique insight. It will definitely get you thinking about the topic. It’s easy to read (even the economic parts) and has clever lines that will keep you engaged.

Not a great book, but a good one.
