I’ve always enjoyed the writing of Derek Sivers, and his new project is a fascinating one. He has created a series of eBooks about doing business in Asia. Each will be regularly updated and come with all the basic information you seldom see in business books. Things like where to find housing, cultural norms, dealing with the government, safety, dress codes, even such things as what to put on your business card. The depth of detail is impressive.

In anticipation of an upcoming trip I picked up a copy of Myanmar Startup Guide 2013 and really enjoyed the read. There are no plans to start a business at this time, but the book offers great insight into what life is like in Myanmar. It’s far more helpful than a typical guide book.

There are sixteen books it the series, ranging from Cambodia to Vietnam. If you do business in Asia, or simply want a broader understanding of the countries before visiting, these are highly recommended. Check out Derek’s website for more information.
