American Sketches by Walter Isaacson

Walter Isaacson is one of my favorite writers. His three biographies on Benjamin Franklin, Einstein and Kissinger are some of my favorite books. He approaches people, places and events with an open heart that allows him to simultaneously express his opinion (gently) while always respecting those who disagree with him.

This book, American Sketches, is a collection of his writings. Many come from Time Magazine, where he was Editor in Chief. Each story profiles a person in American life, from Hillary Clinton to Bill Gates. It’s a short, easy read (made easier by his flowing writing) that almost anybody will enjoy.

Highly recommended. Go get it.
